According to the state, on October 10 last year, Mudzonga was driving the kombi carrying passengers at night along Ruzawi Road when he was involved in an accident.

He then tried to make an out of court settlement with the driver of the damaged car but failed to raise the agreed money, forcing the victim to make a police report which led to the arrest of Mudzonga and his subsequent conviction.

Besides the six year jail term, the regional magistrate also fined Mudzonga $100.
