Jah Prayzah Records Dream Collaboration with Popular South Africa Duo, Mafikizolo

ARTISTE of the Year, Jah Prayzah on Wednesday recorded a dream collaboration with popular South Africa duo, Mafikizolo as he continues with his mission to conquer the continent.

Mafikizolo is a South African singing duo consisting of Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza, who are three-time winners of the South African Music Award for Group or Duo of the Year.

The track titled SENDEKERA was recorded at the famous DJ Maphorisa studios in Midrand, Johannesburg.

And, in an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with H-Metro, Jah Prayzah believes the collabo is at another level and will rock the continent.

He, however, could not compare it with Watora Mari, which he did with Tanzanian star, Diamond Platnumz.

As of Thursday night, the Watora Mari video had reached 3,268,027 views on You Tube having been posted on August 12.

“It has a different feel to Watora Mari but inospaka maspakiro ayo,” said Jah Prayzah.

He explained what Sendekera is about:

“It is about a beautiful girl who leaves home to enjoy party life and is not willing to go back home.”

Sendekera was recorded on Wednesday without any rehearsals by the artistes but the track will not have Jah Prayzah’s mbira because the traditional instrument did not fit the key used for the track.

On their part, Mafikizolo mixed Zulu, Tswana and a bit of shona lyrics.

“We did not rehearse even for a minute, which just went straight into it. The track is by Jah Prayzah featuring Mafikizolo and I will be featuring on their song as well soon. Also we are working on a video for the song we did on Wednesday,” said Jah Prayzah.

Despite sharing the stage with Mafikizolo on a number of shows in Zimbabwe over the past years, Jah Prayzah only managed to secure the collaboration two weeks ago when he travelled to South Africa for a show in Johannesburg.

And the willingness by Mafikizolo to collabo with Jah Prayzah is also a result of the extensive showing of the Zimbabwean star on the recently launched Trace Africa music channel on DStv.

“We had a meeting (with Mafikizolo) two weeks ago when we (Jah Prayzah and Third Generation) went for our show in Johannesburg. The good thing is they have been following my works as well and, as such, it was not problem.

“The other advantage is that Mafikizolo are good people who are not complicated at all. Trace Africa have helped me big time and they are pushing Zimbabwean music a lot and it’s a very good thing for our industry. I am sure that as Zimbabwean musicians we should work together to uplift our music now that there is a platform to spread our work across Africa,” said Jah Prayzah.

He added that he intends to do more collaborations with popular African artistes and Trace Africa has made it easier to engage the big acts as they have easy access to Jah Prayzah’s work on a platform whose regular screening of particular videos is influenced by viewer demand.

Jah Prayzah revealed that he has already started working on his next album although he is yet to decide on the date of release.
